Their exhibit in
Jackson Park
was located in the
Fisheries Building
as listed in "The Official Directory" of exhibitors (shown number 64 and digitally highlighted). The original pail factory in Two Rivers which is north of Milwaukee on the shore of Lake Michigan began operation in 1857 but failed financially until Leopold Mann bought it in 1861 and was jointly run with his sons. The workers were paid in store script but the store was owned by Mann until the workers strike forced payment in cash which slowly led to the decline of the factory. The Mann family have been leading citizens in Two Rivers for decades.
