    Supplemental Background Information:
    Their exhibit in
    Jackson Park
    was located in the
    Horticultural Building
as listed in "The Official Directory" of exhibitors (shown number 36 with their name misspelled). There were a large number of vendors exhibiting produce from California at the WCE! The owner was Eugene Germain, a Jewish immigrant from Switzerland who arrived in California in 1870, became a noted businessman and civic leader in Los Angeles, and was appointed by the President as ambassador to Switzerland for 4 years. The company continued operation well into the 1980s. Another American success story!
